Tuning Fork

Derwent Water, Lake District

Gallery: Lake District

On a windy and slightly wet afternoon I wandered the footpaths surrounding Derwent looking for views of Borrowdale. Certain trees always catch my eye and something about the left branch of this one made me stop. The symmetry of the mountains in the background and the left fork of the tree slotted together like a puzzle. I used a Lee 'Big Stopper' filter on the camera to lengthen the exposure so that the water on the lake would be simplified to a silver band and the clouds would blur as they moved overhead.
