What to bring

Camera, tripod, accessories (spare battery, etc), selection of lenses, filters (ND grads/polariser most useful), waterproof jacket, walking boots, mobile phone.

During this four-day workshop in the Lake District we'll visit some well-known viewpoints as well as some hidden spots. The great thing about the Lake District is that it is big and varied, with mountains, lakes, becks, waterfalls, trees and lush countryside in all directions. Come rain or shine it's one of the most photogenic landscapes I can think of.

What to expect

The workshop will involve walks of three to five miles each day. You should be reasonably fit as we will be walking over some rocky terrain on fells, although it won't be arduous and the pace won't be rushed. With a maximum group size of four we can visit locations without overcrowding and you'll receive plenty of one-to-one tuition.

We'll be staying at The Mary Mount Hotel on the edge of Derwentwater near Keswick. This is ideally situated to access many locations within a small area and Derwentwater itself is reached by a short walk. Places such as Castlerigg Stone Circle, Catbells, Borrowdale and Manesty Park are all within a short drive.

Single occupancy accommodation, breakfast, packed lunch and dinner are included in the workshop price.
