In the summer months the sun rises north of the Mendip Hills, lighting the landscape very differently to the rest of the year. From the top of Crook Peak, the sun appears to rise above the flat path that joins Wavering Down and Crook Peak. On this summer morning the light was ideal; the sky was clear and mist enveloped the landscape beyond, adding a hazy atmosphere to distant scenery.
