Stockhill Woods, Somerset

Glowing Beeches

This was taken on a beautiful misty morning in early November. I'd been photographing a view over the Somerset Levels and decided to stop off at Stockhill Woods on my way home. I wandered for around an hour with no particular route or objective in mind. Most of the autumn leaves had fallen, coating the floor of the woods in orange slush. This scene was in the corner of a Beech plantation. The moist air rising from the wet leaves was lit by the sun, creating a slight haze. What caught my eye foremost though was the edges of the tree trunks which seemed to be glowing in the sun.
