In a dingy cave at the back of a house was this collection of preserves. The jars were arranged randomly on several shelves, each covered in dust and cobwebs. The subdued light that entered the room from the open door reflected off the curves of the jars, highlighting the colours of the liquids within them. I wondered how old each was and if it was in any way edible.
