Triscombe, Quantock Hills

Near Dibble's Elbow

I'm not sure which came first in this scene, the planting of the tree or the footpath beneath it. There is a long history of this area being used to move cattle and other goods from the Somerset coastline to parts further south in the county. The placement of the tree, creating an inviting 'frame' under which to walk, is what initially caught my eye. It was approaching sunset in November so the sun was low in the sky with just a touch of soft light helping illuminate the leaves and draw attention to a place to walk through.
